With a final celebration, the ‘Słubfurt city society’ bid farewell to the old gymnasium between Bischofstraße and Carl-Friedrich-Emanuel-Bach-Straße, which had been its home since 2016.
It will be demolished in spring. From 2012 – 1015, the ‘Słubfurt Parliament’ developed the open space at the bridgehead into ‘Brückenplatz | Plac Mostowy’ until it had to make way for plans to build a shopping centre. At the new location, the ‘Parliament’, in which all city councillors who wish to participate are members, developed a free shop, a repair cafe, Cafe BlaBla, garden claiming, theatre and other art workshops, prayer events of all faiths, intercultural festivals and much more.
They see the ‘Brückenplatz | Plac Mostowy’ as a laboratory for a society of the future beyond the idea of nation states. They are concerned with the question of whether a society is possible in which everyone belongs to the WE? The result is a community in which people support each other in everyday life.
Until the new location on the Südring can be occupied, the meetings of the ‘Słubfurt Parliament’ will take place on Wednesdays at 18:00 in the ‘Słubfurt Project Space’ in the Haus der Künste at Lindenstraße 6.
